The jewellery casting machine is where your wax or resin patterns finally become metal. The right machine gives dense, porosity-free castings with crisp detail; the wrong one leads to rework and lost metal. Here is what to compare.
1. Casting method: vacuum or pressure
- Vacuum casting draws air out through the investment while metal is poured, helping metal fill fine detail. All-in-one machines such as the 3-in-1 casting machine (350 litres/min vacuum pump) and the bottom pouring machine (450 litre double-stage pump) work this way.
- Vacuum-pressure casting adds gas pressure after the pour to push metal into the finest sections. Pressure casting machines such as the PressCast range melt up to 1300 °C with 3 kg to 5 kg gold crucibles, suited to high-quality production and filigree.
2. All-in-one or separate machines
All-in-one machines combine investment, melting and casting in one unit, which saves space and suits small and mid-size workshops. The 3-in-1 machine melts 1 kg and takes 4" × 8" flasks; the trolley-mounted 2-in-1 SS-body machine uses double-tank vacuum storage for filigree work. Larger units with separate melters and casting chambers give more capacity for high volume.
3. Melting capacity and metals
Match the crucible size to your typical tree weight, and check the maximum temperature for the alloys you cast. Gold and silver alloys are well within the range of standard machines; palladium-based white gold needs higher temperatures. For separate melting, a gold induction melter (½ kg to 50 kg, 1200 °C, 1400 °C optional) gives fast, homogeneous melts.
4. Flask size
Flask diameter and height limit how big your tree can be. Check that the machine's flask range covers the trees you build now and those you plan to cast as you grow.
5. The equipment around the caster
A casting machine only performs as well as the steps before and after it:
- Investment mixer and debubblizer for bubble-free investment.
- Burnout furnace with a programmable PID profile for clean burnout.
- Water jet machine to remove investment after casting.
- Magnetic polisher and ultrasonic cleaner for finishing.
Quick checklist
- Choose vacuum or vacuum-pressure based on detail and quality targets.
- All-in-one for compact workshops; separate units for high volume.
- Melting capacity and temperature to match your trees and alloys.
- Flask size that fits your largest trees.
- Plan the full workflow: investing, burnout, casting and cleaning.
